The brief for this project was for a modern rural farmhouse, set on a hillside with stunning Northerly views. We've created two pavilions connected by an entry walkway. The northerly living pavilion sits up to take advantage of the views, breezes and sunlight, while the southern sleeping pavilion nestles in to the hillside which creates a sheltered courtyard in-between for when the strong westerlies pick up. A palette of weathered timber, galvanised steel and rammed earth create a modern textural building that references the farm buildings of earlier times.
