New Dwelling

This new family home comprising of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathroom plus office and rumpus, is located on a generous but highly constrained site in the Tallowood Estate, Mullumbimby.    The pavilion layout was a response to the clients' desire to be able to separate the living and sleeping areas and the material palette of hardwood timber and metal sheeting was born from the requirement to comply with Bushfire construction and still provide a warm and friendly home for their growing family.


House Renovation & Studio Addition

These clients purchased a beautiful character-filled 100 year old Home in Bangalow, which needed a bit of TLC plus some smart planning to comfortably house their family of seven.  Everything we did aimed to maintain or restore the Federation Style, including the addition of a small home office studio/guest room in the backyard.


Secondary Dwelling

It's amazing what you can fit into 60sqm!  This sweet secondary dwelling is anything but a poky little granny flat.  The pitched roofs allow for plenty of interior volume and high level glazing allows ample  natural light while maintaining privacy.  A palette of spotted gum timber and dark metal sheeting creates a modern and striking aesthetic to a more traditional building form.


Dual Occupancy

This brief is for a compact 2 bedroom dwelling in a beautiful grassy meadow with views up the mountain to the North.  This modern farm shed vernacular uses metal cladding and weathered timber for a raw and rustic feel.  This project is currently awaiting DA - watch this space as we keep it progressing!


LiveWork Terraces

I was privileged to work with the talented Dominic Finlay Jones Architects for some time, and was involved in the Habitat Development in Byron Bay. 
The LiveWork Terraces are exactly what their name suggests, a space to work downstairs (think workshop/office space) and a 1 Bedroom Apartment above.  Bushfire restrictions called for a robust exterior, which was balanced with the use of warm ply internally.

Pocket Living Apartments

With the tiny house movement gaining popularity, and the shortage of  affordable housing in the Byron Shire, DFJ Architects set out to design compact, yet functional 'Pocket Living' apartments for the Habitat Development.  And for the last 2 1/2 years I've worked in depth with the DFJ team to make them a reality.  There are 60 apartments in total, housed within 4 buildings, and a mix of 1 bed, 2 bed and studio mezzanine apartments, and whilst the living spaces are compact, there is plenty of communal outdoor parkland to enjoy.   This project is currently under construction.
